Emma "Smith"

Emma said, "I know Joseph Smith's wife. Her name is Emma Smith. I wish I could be an Emma Smith." Why? "Because her name is a pretty, pretty name and I want to be her."

Meg Stories

We were having fun exploring the display rooms at RC Willey. Meg and Emma found a girl's bed that had a large-size pumpkin carriage frame around it with sheer drapes covering the whole thing. It was really gorgeous. They both climbed in and Meg said, "I could be Cinderella in here!" Emma decided she wanted to be Cinderella, too. Meg got excited all of a sudden, jumped out, climbed on the frame at the foot of the bed, and said, "Or - I could be the guy that drives the horses!" Such a Meg thing to say!

Meg came into our room at night, all worried. She said, "I had a really scary dream - I was dreaming about a really scary, evil . . . turkey. It had really evil eyes that could turn you to stone and you couldn't wake up -not even for True Love's Kiss." This whole time, I was trying not to laugh, and I did right at the end there, but I had to cut it off because she looked so sad. So I told her about Bogarts from Harry Potter, and how the kids would turn something they were afraid of into something ridiculous. So she said, "The turkey could loose all its feathers, and then it would be naked!" And I said, "It would go, BUKAW!" She really laughed at that and was able to go back to sleep.

Cemetery Adventures

We've been taking pictures of headstones at different cemeterys for my Mom & Dad's family history project. This one took us 2&1/2 hours to find because it was covered over in grass. We had to come another time and bring the weedeater to clean it up.

What's that Smell? - Part 2

We had a plumbing problem in our downstairs bathroom this week that leaked under the carpet, so the whole place smelled musty and yucky. Meg wrote me this note:

"Mom somting stinks in the playroom. if you know tell me And Emma. Or you And Emma kan investigat! Wen I come home from school Let me know ok? from: meg!
P.S. take care of The smel!

Adventure names

We go walking on the Lagoon Trail almost every day, and we have named almost every section of the trail to make it more fun. When we go up the hill past the pond to the mountain, these are the sections:
Echo Tunnel
The Enchanted Forest
The Mysterious Jungle
The Sparkling Waterfall
The Shimmering Pond
Duck & Goose Pier
The Baby Trees
Acorn Passage
Sprinkler Shower Pasture
Fire Mountain
The Troll Bridge

Sounds like either Anne of Green Gables or Dora the Explorer.

On our way home one day, Emma saw the Rocket Ride at Lagoon sticking up over the trees. She said, "Look, Mom! It's the AWFUL TOWER!"

Diner adventures

Meg - We went out for ice cream at a restaurant/diner. Meg said (really loud), "Emma - did you know that African people's balls are made out of garbage?" I was laughing so hard, I couldn't talk and she said it again! People were staring, Kirk and I were laughing and crying, and Meg was saying, "What? They are."

Emma - At the same diner, Emma fell out of the booth and went SMACK on the floor. We're just eating, and all of a sudden she's gone. She was down there looking at us like, what just happened? She does that at home too - just falls out of her chair for no reason.

Spencer - He spent the time flirting with everyone in the restaurant and everyone waiting in the drive-thru line outside our window. He was saying, "Bonjour!" to everyone and smiling and making faces. Bonjour is his new thing - he says it with different inflections each time.

Kid's Stories of the Week

Spencer started saying Myles, but it sounds like "Myzels."

Meg said, "The guy that's in Sorcerer's Apprentice is the same guy that was in National Treasure. But he doesn't just have his voice, he has his actual same face!"

What's that Smell?

We were driving home tonight through the part of North Salt Lake that smells like the sulfur from the Great Salt Lake. Kirk started it all out with "What a great smell!" Then Meg said, "What is that awful smell? So Kirk decided to tease the girls and said, " It wasn't me it was the chair!" Then Meg said, "It smells like caribou to me. I think that's what caribou must smell like." To which, Emma said, in her little nasselly voice because she was plugging her nose, "no - that can't be caribou. I think it's Daddy. Because Daddy smells . . . awful!"

Happy Days

Emma likes to hide and pop out at me and say, "Happy Mother's Day" because she says she likes to make me happy and not grouchy. She does "Happy Father's Day" to Kirk and "Happy Kid's Day" to Meg and Spencer.

Spencer's New Chair

Spencer was so exited to get his new chair. He knew it was his even before I put the booster on it, and as soon as I did, he got up and claimed it right away. He sat down, pat-patted the sides of the booster and said, "hmm." He put his hands up on the table and rubbed them like he was testing out the space and said, "mhmm." Then he reached out his hand to me, did his little "gimme" wave with his palm up and politeley demanded, "pizza!"

Emma's Rocks

Emma: "I'm collecting rocks for the winter."
Lisa: "Really? Why are you saving rocks for the winter?"
Emma: "I'm collecting different kinds of rocks so I can use them to make a snowman!"
